No, not the lottery.
No, not a literary agent.
No, not my battle with weight (yet!).
I have won immortality!!! Muah-ha-ha-ha!
Well, kind of.
I helped name the Thursday title posts for Melissa! Yay me. Ok, ok, so I didn't win a trophy, but I really was genuinely excited to see it. Go check it out.
Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go win some money from a radio station. I am feelin' lucky!

Tatted Up
Blogging cousins, Pam and Marquita, are followers of YA Highway who posted a question that I loved so much that I have to blog about it.
The question of the week was, "What tattoo would you get to pay homage to a favorite book or celebrate the success of your own?"
I don't know that there is a book out there that I love so much that I would get it tattooed on me. But I do have one completed book. A book I am so attached to that I would have no problems getting a two inch tattoo of - drum roll please! - a MIXTAPE! Oh, and pink, of course. I couldn't find a picture of anything I really liked, so I sketched this:

Ok, I was joking about the "Author!" thing, but you get the idea. Not quite sure where I would put it, either on the back of my neck, right below my hairline and off to the side a bit, or on my back, right below the bra line also to the side. But that second option would only be possible if I wasn't eating this:
The anti-diet.
There is nothing sexy about a bra line tattoo if my bra is cutting into my back fat. Maybe next summer, when I have reached, and am comfortably maintaining, my goal weight!
But don't worry, because thanks to my personal handyman, I now have this at home to work off the anti-diet "snack" I had:

I am still planning on waking up at 4:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that I can run on the track because I really like the fresh air. But I figure I up my running regimen and get on the treadmill to jog/walk a mile every morning. I will let you know how that goes. You know me and my "goals"!
Anyway, what about you? Not all of you write, so what kind of tattoo would you get to commemorate accomplishing your biggest goal?

Testing, testing. Blog, where are you?
Weird things are happening with my blog. I can view all my posts just fine at home, but all of my posts have suddenly disappeared when I am viewing it at work. Ok, so maybe work isn't the best place to look at my blog, but whatevs!
Since I started my blog, my damask background doesn't show up at work. All I can see is a black background with pink borders. Hopefully, this is only a problem at my work and you are looking at something a little more attractive than a plain black background.
Let me know if you can't see my posts anymore, I will have to contact Blogger help if it is an issue outside of my workplace.
On another topic... I have finished posting the first two chapters of Mix Tape. I know it needs a lot of work but, I hope that it was at least an entertaining read. Who knows, maybe I can revamp this bad boy and eventually get it published.

Because It's Football Season
This one is for John (who doesn't read my blog, thanks for the support!) and Germaine. This almost makes me want to watch more football.
First, here is the article by Michael David Smith:
A football player who became momentarily confused on a punt return tackled his own teammate during a semi-pro game last week.Mauriece McIver was playing on the punt return team for the Las Vegas Cobras when, for reasons he himself probably can't understand, he decided to tackle his own teammate, who was breaking into the clear for a long return. This wasn't a player accidentally bumping into his teammate, this was a player perfectly wrapping up his teammate for a textbook form tackleWhen you first hear that McIver tackled his own teammate you might think he had a grudge against him or something, but no: You can tell from his reaction that McIver was upset with himself when he realized what he had done. McIver buried his head in his hands afterward, but the damage was done. I wonder what the post-game conversation was like.
Poor #32, it looks like everyone on his team was trying to stop him. At the 0:15 mark, another one of #32's teammates obstructed his way before he gets tackled by the other guy.

Coffee Anyone?
In my quest to save money, I had John buy a coffee maker.
I decided that Starbucks is not very good for my bank account and one of the ways to save money would be to buy a coffee maker and make my own damn coffee in the morning. Really though, the reason we don't have a coffee maker is because I can't drink it. Coffee works like a fast acting laxative for me. My brother's fiance drinks coffee the moment she wakes up to make herself - ahem! - go number two before she leaves for work so she won't have to go while at work. Brilliant! Nothing more embarassing than running to the public bathroom at work and squeezing your cheeks to hold it in when someone else walks in. (How is that for TMI?)
Anyhoo, John and I head to our favorite Saturday hang-out: Target. We go down the coffee maker aisle and we both pick the same one. Perfect! Between Saturday and Sunday, John brewed coffee four or five times! How in the world did this man live without a coffee maker for so long? Has he been personally financing the Starbucks employees payroll?!
Then I realized the real reason for all the coffee brewing. John is a tech nerd. I thought he just loved all of the new game consoles and computery stuff, but apparently it is worse than I thought. It looks like any new appliance will give him his "new toy" high.
Have I introduced John to you all yet? He is my fiance/beta book reader/baby daddy. And we can add another slash to that: /mad coffee fiend. Here is a picture of him and our daughter, Bella, from Halloween 2005.

Celebrity
Went to the Jamie Foxx concert last night. I am sorry to say that it wasn't all that great. I love Jamie's newest CD, Intuition, but it wasn't paced very well. About 2/3 of the show was all the slow songs packed in. The crowd was hyped in the beginning because he was doing faster paced songs. After a while though, it was slow song after slow song. The crowd started sitting down and for most of the show everyone was in their seats. I am not trying to say no one else enjoyed themselves, just that it was more of a slow jam session.
I was also really disappointed because Jamie Foxx kept teasing the crowd with "Slow Jamz" but never really ended up belting it out.
My experience was also marred because the seats we were in were by the side of the stage, so we didn't get the full stage view. A lot of a good concert is the atmosphere, the performed, the crow, and - I have now learned - the seats! I felt like we were pretty close to Jamie and could see him clear enough, but it would almost be better to have sat on the far end, opposite the stage so that we could see the whole picture.
Now keep in mind that my friends and I normally get general admission tickets and would push ourselves to the front of the stage so we really soaked up the entire experience. Sitting in the side seats was not how I like to enjoy my concerts.
I had also hear that his last concert in Seattle was off the hook and that he had integrated a lot of comedy into his show. This wasn't the case last night. There was a part where he was calling some ladies on stage and then did a little comedy routine with them - that part was definitely funny, but it was too short.
One of the other fun parts of the show was when he did every old skool dance under the sun (oh yes, the running man was included!) and then did the c-walk. Oh I do miss the ole c-walk!
Overall, the concert was alright, but I am still a Jamie Foxx fan and would definitely go out and buy his next CD when it comes out in December. And I am definitely going to have to check out his next two movies. He has the one coming out, The Gamer, and then another one with Martin Lawrence. Martin is reviving Shanaynay from his show "Martin" and Jamie Foxx is Wanda from "In Living Color". A must see for anyone in my generation!
Ok, onto the next subject ...
I was HEATED today when I read a blog by the ignorant Adrianne Curry, who was the winner of the first season of America's Next Top Model. She has had her fair share of controversial moments, so I shouldn't be surprised by the idiotic things she says, but she really topped herself this time. She claims that the illigality of drugs is to blame for her brutal rape. I feel for what happened to her, nothing like that should ever happen to anyone. But her argument is that if she could have bought her crack at a pharmacy, she wouldn't have had to go to the streets to buy her drugs and then she wouldn't have been raped. That if the drugs were legal, there wouldn't be any crack dealers on the streets and everyone can just buy their drugs legally.
Right Miss Curry. Sooner or later these "clean pharmacies" will be robbed because the crack addicts that swindled all their money on drugs can't afford the legal drugs anymore.
How about you blame your drug use on poor judgement and your addicition. The majority of the population seems to be just fine without legal crack.
The next thing you know she will a spokeswoman for child pornography and human trafficking. Stupid, stupid woman.
